I was fortunate to grow up with supportive teachers* in schools with wildly active arts, music, and theatre programs. I'm delighted that this thread of richness and diversity continues for me in a variety of creative educational and computing projects. I'm a classically trained musician,* with a BA in music theory and composition. I've directed, performed with, and written for choirs, bands, orchestras, and theatre groups; I've taught voice, theory, and composition privately; I've played keyboards and sung with a few rock bands; and I maintain through-composer.com for professional meanderings into aurality. I prefer to write for small ensembles and electronics, sometimes together. Exploring and developing hardware and software tools for making music introduced me to a widening world of computing. My clients are artists, entrepreneurs, small businesses - and Apple, CTB/McGraw-Hill, CompuServe, DeltaPoint, Syntex, the University of the Pacific, Xerox, and Ziff-Davis.
I've also taught classes in K-12 special education and graduate level 2D/3D digital imaging.
For seven years I was a university staff research associate, which inspired me to found
Around and Through -
a service for advancing clinical 3D imaging techniques and training.
